Where you'll live
U of T living options.
Every neighbourhood is chosen for transit, safety, and walkable amenities. Here's what to expect from each.
The Annex
Closest to campus · classic student streets
The Annex is the classic U of T neighbourhood — leafy Victorian streets, Bloor Street cafés and bookshops, and a 5–10 minute walk to most St. George departments. Our Annex homes are character houses with shared kitchens, typically 4–6 bedrooms, and they go fastest each September. Best fit for students who want to walk to class and don't mind paying a little more to be at the centre of it all.
Kensington / Harbord
Walkable · food, markets & a short stroll to campus
Just southwest of campus, Kensington Market and the Harbord Village edge are among the most walkable, character-rich pockets in the city — global street food, indie grocers, and a flat 15-minute walk or quick streetcar to St. George. Our homes here suit students who want energy and independence within easy reach of class.
Riverdale
East-end value · streetcar straight to the core
Riverdale gives you the most space for your money and a clean 501/504 streetcar line straight into downtown, 15–18 minutes from class. Quiet residential streets, the Danforth's Greek restaurants, and riverside parks make it a favourite for students who want value and calm over being in the thick of campus.
Midtown
Subway value · ~20 min down the Yonge line
Midtown sits on the Yonge subway line, about 20 minutes from campus at Museum or St. George station. You get more room, leafy streets, and grocery and gym options at your doorstep, with a fast, weather-proof ride to class. Ideal for students who prefer a quieter home base and a reliable subway commute.
